Stuck forever:
It's 6:00 p.m. on Monday night, so Melissa and I gather with the kids at the table for dinner. While the older kids and I wold down our meal, Melissa teaches our six-month-old baby how to eat real food using an apple sauce pouch. "So cute," I say. Of course, within minutes, our baby is channeling her inner Picasso and painting the entire highchair with applesauce. It's adorable. When we're done, I lift her out of the seat and take her to the tub for a bath. Melissa washes the dishes, the older kids clear the table, and before you know it dinner is almost cleaned up. There's only one thing left to wipe down: The Baby's HighchairNow I don't know how much experience you have with baby food, but my experience over the last 9 years has taught me that the longer you leave baby food on any surface - even if for only a few minutes - the more it becomes less like baby food and more like concrete. So I walk over and take a look at the sauce-covered highchair. "Oh no..." I say. "What?" Melissa responds. "It's... it's hardened." I start with a few damp paper towels - but that doesn't work. Next I try some heavy duty cleaning wipes - but the hardened apple sauce remains. Next I use a scrub daddy sponge, which helps, but there are still too many little crevices I can't get to. Finally, I detach the tray from the chair completely and we scrub it down in the sink with some elbow grease. When the job is done, I sit down and let out a sigh. "We have to clean that chair right away after meals, or her food will stay stuck forever." We laugh off the moment together before I realize it's actually a great analogy for the webinar I'm doing tomorrow on... Subject LinesBelieve it or not, a good subject line is a bit like a baby's applesauce... The longer someone leaves that email there without opening it, the more it should "stick" in their mind. And the only way to make it "unstick" is to open the message and see what's inside. I have one rule for how to write a subject line that "sticks" in people's minds like this, and I'm sharing it with you tomorrow at 11 am MST. Make sure you don't miss this opportunity to get more eyes on your company's offers (no scrubbing necessary):
